About This Site

I Believe

I had a very good education to GCSE A level but decided university education was not for me as I needed to earn as soon as possible. I had a good understanding of Physics and from the age of 14 was convinced that the Universe could not have created itself from nothing but must have had a beginning and  I became a Bible believing Christian 2 years later.  As far as I am aware, the known and undisputed laws of science clearly demand there must be a pre-existing,  infinitely intelligent Being and the word "God" is appropriate. I, therefore, believe that the existence of "God" is a scientific fact.  What we believe about  "God" is a matter of faith.  I am now approaching 90 years of age and am more convinced than ever.

12/05/2024

I have now reached the final year(s) of my earthly life.  Born on 18/04/1935, born again on the last Sunday in September 1951 The Lord has kept me securely in the Faith, drawing me back from the ways of the world whenever I strayed too close. I am evidence of his faithfulness in keeping His promises to do so. Whilst I have mobility and slight breathing problems, they are no problem to him. My mind is clear and He is providing all my needs plus several luxuries. However, I have become aware of the vast number of professing "Christians" who are not true Believers, as warned of many times in the Scriptures.  This site will continue to be accessible until the January following my death but I do not know if anyone else will monitor it, I leave you all to the care of the faithful Lord Jesus. Remember.  All God requires of us is that we truly believe Him.   God   IS  real.

I Believe

About This Site

I Believe

I believe in God as revealed in the Christian Bible as identified below and that no tradition or practice of any Church is authoritative unless it is clearly supported by that Bible.  I do not claim all my understandings at any point in time are fully correct as I accept that God will reveal truths to us as He determines we are ready for them and I stand ready to be corrected on any point, provided such  correction is fully supported by scripture.

I believe the originals of the scriptures contained in the Old Testament of the Christian Bible were fully inspired and delivered by God in revelation through  various prophets

2Pe 1:20  Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

2Pe 1:21  For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

but what we have today is the result of human copying over many centuries and contains some errors, depending on which translation of the Bible is considered.  Using the King James version, such errors are very minor,  do not affect basic doctrine and can easily be checked  by reference to other passages of scripture.  The New International Version (especially with footnotes giving possible alternative text sources) is slightly more accurate and in more modern English and I understand the English Standard version (favoured in the USA) is similar. No bible can claim to be the fully inspired word of God but the better ones are 99% so.

For reasons I have given in the section "Authority of Scripture", I prefer the Septuagint version of the Old Testament as being the most reliable.

The New Testament  was compiled by well intentioned men under pressure from the Roman Emperor early in the 4th century AD  (Constantine). Most of the content is the work of Apostles, regarding which Jesus said to them and  certain other disciples

Joh 14:26  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Therefore, the books authored by members of that group are "Inspired". One obvious person absent from that group is Luke, so one cannot deduce doctrine from items which appear solely in his two books.  (Luke's Gospel and the Acts.)

I am a Bible Believing Christian, protestant, non-conformist. I believe in the right of all to hold any spiritual belief without threat of any kind from others, provided such beliefs  respect the right of others to peacefully continue in their beliefs. Each person's beliefs are a matter between them and God but no one can avoid the consequences of their belief, of which God alone is the Judge. I believe I have a duty to point out to others any dangers I see arising from their beliefs or actions but God alone is the judge thereof.  I acknowledge that, from time to time, God may make me aware of other people's problems and place me in a situation where I may assist, when, by His grace and strength, I will respond.  I am not a "Conscientious Objector" and have served in the army.  Although I prefer to live in an ecologically efficient manner, I am not worried about the fate of the planet, as I believe that God is fully capable of dealing with that.

About This Site

During the Covid lockdown in common with many, I had virtually no social contact with others  and  I took the opportunity  to thoroughly examine my beliefs in the light of the Christian Bible. My purpose in setting up this site is to share the results thereof.

This site has developed into a collection of Bible studies and, while there is content included for all, these notes are primarily intended to help Bible Believing Christians, (sincerely Born Again through the ministry of the Holy Spirit) in responding to attacks on their beliefs.  They are as factual as I can make them.   If those facts support an alternative interpretation to the one I understand, then you must seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit in accordance with

1Jn 2:27  But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Other Christians may be used by the Lord to draw our attention to spiritual items, but it is solely the Holy Spirit who effects the teaching.

Please do not take anything I write for granted. Take my remarks to the Scriptures and check them yourself and tell me, with scriptural references, if you see an error therein.
All quotes are from the King James version unless otherwise indicated. My  text is faint black:  Bible quotes  are bold and in Italics:  Jesus' words  are bold plain text. " Believers" in the following notes means sincere Bible Believing Christians (i.e. a person who is "Born Again" as per

Joh 3:3  Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again."

Joh 3:4  Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
Joh 3:5  Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Joh 3:6  That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Conversely, if a person is not a Bible Believer (taking  "The Bible" to mean the Scriptures as fully described in the central column on this page) he/she cannot have been "Born Again" as described therein.  That does not mean that a Born Again Christian fully understands the scriptures immediately on that new birth, as The Holy Spirit is continually teaching us and giving us understanding as He deems appropriate to our needs, but He is not going to teach anything contrary to scripture, even though our personal understanding of a passage of scripture may be incomplete at any particular time and it may take considerable time to shake off erroneous doctrine remaining in our minds from our earlier contact with professed Christians.

Announcement

When you click on a link to another site,  I may or may not agree with their views on any particular subject, although I am generally happy with their approach. Many sites claiming to expound Christian beliefs are careless in their Bible quotes, referring only to those  apparently supporting their view but ignoring those that do not. I have tried to  avoid doing that. Our approach to Scripture must be to learn the truth, not to win arguments as if we were playing a game. You may think I have too many quotes but I believe the Sword of the Spirit should be used as much as possible.
